“This is more than music, we are more than words.” This is a statement that many, who have encountered or met The Day Of, have become familiar with. This is truly a band who has big things on their mind and agenda. Since the release of their first record, “Awaiting Takeoff,” The Day Of have garnered much acclaim but have yet to lose sight of the goals at hand. The band has been hard at work for the past 7 months writing, touring, and preparing themselves for the road ahead. The future is always a mystery as there are so few certainties in this life, but the one thing this band holds dear is the certainty of what they do. “In a life full of disappointment, heartache, loss, death, and so many other things, we hold strong to the fact that our music and our lives can change the world. “ RJ.
With such large goals at the top of a list, it is safe to assume the pressures of releasing a follow up album. However The Day Of is excited about the possibilities. “When you say we want to change the world, people laugh at you, but when you speak with your actions and not your mouth people listen. You want to see change you want to experience hope and love, then be the change, be the hope, show the love. We can change the world, but it takes determination and perseverance.” Nick.
These are all things that generate excitement with the mention of a new record, and after many months of writing and recording, The Day Of, is set to release their follow up record titled “Undiscovered.” This album brings forth a much more polished and distinct sound from the band. “The vocals are bigger, the playing is better, the songs are bigger, and the writing has grown immensely.” Trevor Reddick. It is evident after hearing a few songs, that this band is continuing to grow. Growth is essential within the ever changing music industry.
With a new record, a polished live show, and a hunger that exceeds that of many, The Day Of are anxious to use their new music as a platform to show the hope and love in which can be found through Jesus Christ. With such criteria on the mind though, it also brings forth many expectations. “We will not fail, because if we fail it echoes not only here but through eternity. Failure is not an option.” Matt.
It is evident to see why it is not hard to fall madly in love with this band. Their personalities and music grab hold of your heart and don’t let go. Disappointed is not a word often associated with this band. So be sure to check out their brand new album “Undiscovered” set to be released in May of 2009, it is sure to be well worth the anticipation.
Reviews:
“ If you haven’t heard of this band before get ready because you will be soon. The songs found on Awaiting Takeoff sound like those of a well-seasoned band. All of the parts are tight and the song arrangements flow perfectly from track to track.” --Christian Rockers Online.
“Hailing from America, the Day Of (http://www.thedayofband.com) have mastered the art of Christian alternative rock….When you have songs as catchy and radio-friendly as this, the paint-by-numbers aspects become quite appealing. Give the Day Of a shot; you won't regret it. They may even save your life.” --Whisperin and Hollerin.
“The Day Of embody the next generation of Christian rock. The Christian alt scene has been around long enough now that a new generation of bands are appearing which were inspired by the first wave of self-proclaimed Jesus Freaks. Among this gradually overcrowding population is the Day Of, a tuneful foursome with a passion for Christ but also a keen sense of how to rock.” --Overground Underground.
“Christian rockers The Day Of could easily compete with any of today's popular spiritual acts, whether it be secular crossover stars P.O.D. or praise & worship favorites Casting Crowns. The indie hipsters will scoff; however, fans of CCM radio stations or positive rock & roll in general will be rotating this in their iPods for quite a while. I certainly am.” --Ink 19.
“I don’t think the Day Of will have to await taking off for very long. This is certainly one of the most polished and nicely packaged unsigned Christian alternative groups today. I sincerely doubt that this band, if they decide to stick together for the long haul, will remain unknown for that much longer. Rockers like “It Should Have Been Me” and the Coldplay-like “You Don’t Have to Do This” present a group that is on the verge of busting out of the gates - and they know it. You can hear the confidence in Nick Hickman’s voice; his passion is infectious, making you hum nearly every chorus on this CD no matter what your spiritual background is.” --Post Alternative
