Stirring melodies and heart felt lyrics are what make this bright young band infectious. Forming in 2004, the Undeserving (Clay Kirchenbauer - vocals/guitar/piano, Kyle Kirchenbauer - drums, J. Brennan Willis - lead guitar/backing vocals, and Jimmie Getty - bass) have advanced far beyond their years since their beginnings.
The band's first recording project forged ahead with Allen Salmon, an up and coming producer who saw promise in the developing group. Soon after the completion of their debut release titled Please Don't Leave EP the eager musicians called on Clay's younger brother Kyle to man the drums. Only a few short months following Kyle's addition they found themselves playing sparse shows with national recording artists such as Falling Up, John Reuben, Mainstay, and Sanctus Real. Later, making The Undeserving's line-up complete, Jimmie Getty was introduced on bass.
Though the core writers, Clay Kirchenbauer and J. Brennan Willis, were still trying to find their true sound while recording the Please Don't Leave EP, the message has been consistent since their conception. "We try to offer something more hopeful and encouraging than what you might hear else where in the market," says J. Brennan Willis.
Clay adds, "The things of this world are fleeting and unimportant. We want to show people there is more to life than our mundane daily routines."
Continuing to write and perform, the band is always progressing with new songs, unrelenting enthusiasm, and determination. The future is unwritten for these young prospects but one thing is for sure, you'll hear more from The Undeserving.
