Borken Heart"Broken Heart" is a dynamic, moving one-act play that has been used by youth ministries, church, and para-church organizations around the world for nearly 30 years. From widespread use by Young Life at its youth resorts all over the country, to television in Germany, and a women's ministry in Australia, the play has been viewed by estimated audiences of more than 4 million worldwide."Broken Heart" is a story about a young girl (representing you and I) growing up with hurts by parents, friends, a boyfriend, and others that continue to tear away at her heart. The play makes extensive use of unique props to visually communicate our efforts to protect ourselves from the hurts of life in harmful ways such as through anger, bitterness, busyness, and more.
A Satan figure fiendishly supplies the young girl with "toys" to protect her heart. All the while, Jesus repeatedly approaches her with compassion, only to be rebuffed by the girl for most of the play. In the end, God brings healing to the girl's heart in ways that oftensurprise and invite viewers to respond to its message.
Meet Callann Lane ( callannlane ). She has been developing a musical based on a play called the "Broken Heart". allianceartists.net/brokenheart. Callann came across the play through her work with Young Life ( younglife.org), a non-denominational mentoring program for teenagers. She saw so much of her own story reflected in the storyline of the main character of the play that she knew it was something she wanted to introduce to a wider audience.
Caught between the lines of her Faith and life experience, Callann Lane (formerly known as Cali) has gained respect and notoriety for her work with Radio Disney, Mainstream Top 40 radio, and the Christian music industry. She is an interesting hybrid of sorts. On one hand she is very grounded in her beliefs and on the other she is very much aware that not everyone shares those beliefs. Callann is an artist that mixes both of these truths in a consistent and relevant way through her artistry. This unique mixture is what makes her both intriguing and engaging. She speaks to the joys and pains of life while holding onto the integrity of what matters the most. This is the reason for her appeal to such a wide demographic. Her message is about life and love with an undertone of Faith that, Callann maintains, drives her to pursue this life that she loves.
