Brandon Lake Leads With Five Nominations and Cory Asbury, and Phil Wickham Follow With Three Each, 54 Artists Nominated Across 12 ‘Song of the Year’ Categories
The War that Plagues the Lands is the second full-length album by Slechtvalk. The album reached a number 2 position in the Lowlands Top 50, the most known metal-chart from the Netherlands. The cover art was done by Kris Wervimp who is known for his works with bands like Marduk and Immortal. Slechtvalk became a full band on this album, showcasing folk vocals by Ohtar, bass playing by Nath, drumming by Grimbold, symphonic keyboards by Sorgier, and soprano vocals by Fionnghuala. The lyrical content took a more fantasy-oriented approach and talk metaphorically about a warlord and his falcon, and the rising battle between armies of good and evil, concentrating on the plot from the falcon's point of view. The album received a positive reception from the press, and was mostly criticized for the drum sound and that the music was not particularly innovative.
