On the heels of two gold albums and five No. 1 singles, tobyMac is set to take things to the next level with his third solo album, Portable Sounds.
The album's first single, "Made to Love," is already a smash hit, and Toby, having sold 7 million records with dcTalk and more than 1 million as a solo artist, is just getting things started. As one of Christian music's most unique and successful pioneers, tobyMac's new album Portable Sounds is destined to be one of the biggest records of the year.

Using all the ingredients to what Toby calls his "Musical Gumbo" Portable Sounds is tobymac's best album yet.Featurin songs with the flyest rhymes such as "Boomin",songs that make you think about God's love such as "Made to love" and "Suddenly",and songs that make you just smile and rejoice like "Feelin so fly".

Tobymac Rocks!!!!| Posted June 19, 2008
In a world where hiphop demands are growing, tobymac came up with this cd. It shows that there is some clean hiphop. It gives a great face to modern christian music.
Amazing, incredible, etc.| Posted June 18, 2008
It's not often that you find a 13-track album that consistently delivers again and again and again... and again. However, this just happens to be the case for tobyMac's best-selling masterpiece Portable Sounds. "One World" is coolness to the core, "Made To Love" shows off Toby's "lighter" pop side (proving that he knows how to easily incorporate different styles and tastes into his music), while "Boomin'" is sure to thump your stereo speakers over and over. The hit single "I'm For You" is amazingly irresistible, with electric guitars and an easy-to-sing-to melody line that begs to be repeated. The sound of "Face Of The Earth" reminds me of the dcTalk days, and slows things down a bit to continue to balance the album out. "No Ordinary Love" explores the pop genre again, and the song's unique brass instrumentals and (once again) catchy chorus shoots it to a huge highlight. The next track "Ignition" will get rock-lover's attention with it's driving sound, while lyrically it's a fun song ("Turn on, turn on, the ignition / Everbody come on, come on and turn on the ignition). Toby's son Truett (truDog) steps up to the mic and creates a fun tune for everybody to enjoy, then Toby finishes the album out with more flawless numbers... "Suddenly", which almost sounds like a sequel to Welcome To Diverse City's "Gone", "Letting Go", the energetic fan-favorite "Feelin' So Fly", "No Signal", and finally "Lose My Soul" with Kirk Franklin and Mandisa.
Overall, this whole album is jam-packed with treats and smash hits, and lyrically and musically it's a breath of fresh air. An album of tracks that touch on almost every style imaginable, Portable Sounds is easily one of the best offerings in Christian music for 2007--this is as close to perfection as there is.
Fav so far!| Posted May 24, 2008
Portable Sound is probably my favorite tobyMac cd so far. I love the song "Lose My Soul". It's so powerful and moving. I also like pretty much every other song onthe record! I especial like Boomin', Ignition, Made To Love, and I'm For You!

this album is absolutely amazing. many of my friends who don't even like christian music like this album. its a pity that he doesn't play "one world" during his concerts though. it talks about how God must be looking at pure disgust. We need to be united and let all hate dissipate with all haste.
