New Artist On The Block | Posted June 16, 2019
What You Need To Know:
Sean Curran, former frontman of Bellarive and new member of Passion, fell in love with music in his middle and high school years. During that time, he was asked to serve on the student worship team, which led to him finding God and seeing how God can move through music. During Sean's college years, he saw God stirring something in his community and church, which birthed the band Bellarive. His travels with Bellarive eventually brought he and his wife to Atlanta, where they found Louie Giglio's Passion City, which soon became their new home church. Sean started serving on the worship team, and now also leads at Passion conferences and events. The Bigger Than I Thought EP is Sean's debut solo album, featuring his three preivously released singles.

What it Sounds Like:
Sean has brought a powerful worship EP to the table, deeply rooted in Scripture. The sound of it is similar to Hillsong UNITED's new album, People, with both pop and worship sounds. "The Great Migration" leans more on the pop side, while "All Praise" is one I could definitely see churches singing.

Spiritual Highlights:
"All Praise", has a spiritual message that you can't miss. The song talks about how life is a gift, and proclaims that Jesus will always provide. In response, we need to fix our eyes on Jesus and give Him all of our praise, because He will never leave us. Rooted in Psalm 42:5, the bridge sings, "Why should my heart grow weary? / Don't be so downcast, O my soul / You are in every moment / You are my greatest miracle."

Best Song on the Record:
All of the songs on the EP are great, but I think the best song from the record is the title track "Bigger Than I Thought." This song was originally released on Passion's most recent album, Follow You Anywhere, and is now featured on Sean's debut project. This song is really one of surrender with a message of laying down all of our fears, because God isn't afraid of them. He is always bigger than we think He is. He can handle all of our struggles, and He understands us completely. We can stop trying to negotiate with Him, because He knows what's best for us. I could see this one going to radio!

For Fans Of:
Passion, Bellarive, Hillsong United

Final Word:
Sean Curran did not disappoint with this album! Every song on it is powerful, and each has definite potential to change lives. Fans who have followed Sean's musical journey for any length of time will be especially happy, since earlier this year on Instagram many begged him to release the last track,"Step Into The Light," using the hashtag "#ReleaseStepIntoTheLight." The song was first performed at the 2019 Passion Conference earlier this year, before Sean ever had plans of releasing it. After social media blew up with conversation about it, "Step Into The Light" ended up being Sean's first solo single and has really connected with his fans. I'm excited to see what else Sean has in store, since this EP is really a hit.
