PROMISING DEBUT| Posted September 29, 2008
After a time spent touring with a couple of other Tooth & Nail bands (Ruth, The Send, Run Kid Run) A Dream Too Late has released its debut album for the label, Intermission To The Moon. Initially, the listener is struck with a feeling of familiarity; however, with subsequent listens, one discovers there is more to be had on the band’s effort.
From the rock-steady “Be Honest” and the moody pop of “14th and Knott” to the head-bopping “Trendsetter,” A Dream Too Late has concocted a lush brand of alt-pop that slathers a layer of dreamy guitars and/or keyboards over a bed of solid rock rhythms, matched with effective harmonies.
Lyrically, the brash “Intermission To The Moon” is a sober examination of the modern culture. “Be Honest” boldly dissects the games often played in relationships. “Trendsetter” confronts the high school hero who thinks he’s gained the whole world—and doesn’t realize he’s lost his soul (take a look at yourself/all that’s left is a ghost).
Though at times repetitive and overly reminiscent of other bands, A Dream Too Late has crafted a fine debut. Despite its few shortcomings, Intermission To The Moon sets the band up for bigger things to come. - Brandon Haan

The first thing I noticed when I picked this album up was a big sticker on the packaging that said that this was for fans of Switchfoot and Falling Up. After listening to it, I can agree with the latter. A Dream Too Late's first and sadly last album is very much inspired by the sound of early Falling Up, so much so that two members of the band contribute a lot on this album. Lead singer Jessy Ribordy co-writes more than half of the album lyrics and music while drummer Josh Shroy contributes his drumming talents to 9 out of the 11 songs.
It's really hard to not imagine this album as Falling Up's unofficial 3rd album. Many of the same musical stylings are here like their early Nu-metal sound mixed in with some experimental elements. Lyrically, it feels like something that Jesse would have written. The lyrics have an excellent poetic tinge to them and the space theme really fits in well to the experimental sound.
While this is the only album A Dream Too Late put out, it's a darn good one that fans of early Falling Up would apprieciate.
Groundbreaking Debut| Posted April 28, 2009
Emerging from the musically fruitful location of Albany, Oregon, A Dream Too Late is ready to make their grand entrance into the music industry with the release of their debut, Intermission To The Moon. Having toured with well-known counterparts such as Falling Up, and fellow newcomers like The Send, and Ruth, they have already received extensive exposure.
The sounds of electronic synths and acoustic strums fill the atmosphere as "14th And Knott" opens up the album, providing the listener with a complex yet simplistic message about the roads of life. "Do You Believe (In Ghosts)?" is pretty self-explanatory lyrically, and with electric riffs and heart-pounding drums, this one is sure to become a fan favorite. "Intermission To The Moon" reveals the one true fact about life: we have only one chance and one shot, so let's make it count. "Trendsetter" illustrates that there is more to life than popularity, while promoting another positive message with added creativity and flare musically and vocally.
"The Life" relates to the art of the personal surrendering of our lives, incorporating elements of spirituality to the record. "City Parks" fuses harmonizing vocals with pulsating tempo, fabricating yet another favorite tune. The mellow rock ballad "Be Honest" is very direct in its approach, depicting the importance of honesty and integrity within a person's character.
"Can I Start New?" exemplifies the longing we have as Christians to start over with a clean slate, "Daylight" describes the omnipresence of God and how we can see Him in everything ("I am one, You are all around, everywhere"). "Airsick" intertwines ambient vocals with a solid, clear-cut rhythm, portraying the fact that we cannot accomplish anything by ourselves. "A Night Polaris" expresses the urge to escape and get away for awhile, delivering a finishing touch to the release.
It's very hard to find a Tooth and Nail band with the capability of great sound quality with spiritual messages bound throughout the entire record. A Dream Too Late has proven that one can have both, creating an album that's one-of-a-kind. This record is proof that A Dream Too Late has musical, lyrical, and vocal qualities that are beyond compare. To not listen to Intermission To The Moon is like not accrediting A Dream Too Late for the abilities that God has given them. There is no doubt in my mind: this is definitely an appealing debut from a promising new act.

This band is awesome. They have great music. :)
I love to listen to them because they are different from anyone else. And I love bands that are different because after a while everybody starts to sound the same. :)

i would have to say out of all the bands on tooth and nail....bands like adtl are the best. they have a variety to their music that is usually unmatched. plus the fact that they have jessy ribordy writing some of their songs. he has got to be the best song writer in the alternative genre.

This album takes some listening to to get used to it. Overall, it's a pretty good technoish rock album. If you like the band Falling Up, you will definitely like A Dream Too Late.
Hey! It's Amazing!| Posted March 04, 2008
A Dream Too Late are great new artists. This album is titled a great way. My favorite songs are "Trendsetter" and "Intermission to the Moon".
I was hooked when I heard the title track| Posted November 16, 2007
And the rest of the album did not disappoint! It's hard to describe music this good. Of course, I could use all of the cliche words and call it melodic, innovative, refreshing, energetic, deep, versatile, and real. And all of those words would be accurate, but there's something about the way all of these elements blend that makes each song cohesive and complete. Just about any song on the cd could make great radio music, most notably the current single (the title track), The Life, and Can I Start New. And as a bonus, the planetary imagery of the album, both in the music and the artwork, resonates very personally with this writer.
