An Offering Of Praise| Posted September 22, 2014
Compilation albums are always a special treat to music fans because they take the best of various artists and combine them in one place. However, Reverence: An Offering seems to be even better than that. Of the whopping 19 tracks included, 17 of them are appearing on this album as tracks that have never before been released. With so many artists debuting songs here, it's almost a guarantee to find a few musical gems.
Fuel Music says the motivation behind this project was to discover new songs and artists, and it sounds like they definitely have.
Christian music giants Jesus Culture lent a few of their voices to help the album come together, most notably Bryan and Katie Torwalt's moving song "Shores." Worship leader Kathryn Scott contributed her breathtaking "Sing On The Battlefield" from her upcoming album, as did Patrick Mayberry with "Brought To Life" and Jimmy Thorpe with "Anchor." It should come as no surprise that there are some incredible moments of worship gathered here. "Yahweh" from One Sonic Society, "Running After You" from Chris Mcclarney and "Song Of Solomon" from Martin Smith are just a few.
Not only are there beautiful songs found here, but the voices behind them are beautiful as well. Anthony Skinner shows off his range with "All The Praise" and Lara Landon gives the world a taste of her smooth vocals in "There Is Grace." With "Time To Be Well," former frontwoman for Addison Road, Jenny Simmons, gives us a peek into her upcoming EP funded by Kickstarter. Also featured on this album are tracks from respected rock groups Abandon and Remedy Drive.
Closing Thoughts:
Most of the artists included on this album aren't that familiar, but that turns out to work in their favor, making it a pleasant surprise to the listener. With almost all of the songs being debuts, it adds an element of newness that usually isn't there in compilation albums. A strong worship album, Reverence proves to serve it's purpose to making new musical discoveries. Whether the artist is one you've known for 5 years or 5 seconds, the excellence found here leaves you wanting to hear more from each one and eagerly awaiting each upcoming solo project.
