Reverie is the debut, solo album by Scott Anderson, released April 2011. Being involved in projects previously including youth and church albums at Perth Christian Life Centre in Perth, Western Australia, as well as writing and recording with Youth Alive WA, Scott was ambitious in setting out to produce his own album that aimed to be simple in its delivery yet stern in his conviction.
Not only composing and arranging the entire album himself, Scott has worked on Reverie as a drummer, guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist as well as recording and mixing engineer, Acquiring the additional talent of Matt McCubbin on drums, Jen Doyle on violin, Brett Hirsch on Uilleann Pipes and guest vocalist Rachelle Storer and Karlee Brown.
“Reverie has been around 2 years in the making”, Scott stated. “.. a large part of the songs originated from worship times in a small crammed study room in my house with just me and a keyboard. I knew that the songs and refrains that were coming forth we’re not meant to just be bouncing off the walls in my crammed little space, but that they we’re to become messages and exhortations for others to have their own ‘study room’ experience and have God birth new revelation inside them”.
The word “Reverie” describes an abstract state of absorption, and a deep level of thought and contemplation, and this album inspires just that. As you listen to these songs may you find yourself lost in your own Reverie, as you ponder he who was, who is and who is to come.
