Atlanta-based band Casting Crowns rocketed to success as the fastest-selling new artist of 2003 and 2004 with their debut album reaching gold in less than nine months. The first two singles became No. 1 radio hits, and the group garnered five Dove Award nominations with lead singer Mark Hall winning the prestigious Songwriter of the Year award. But the story does not end there.
With undeniable hits, extensive publicity and heavy touring, Casting Crowns continues to grow a remarkable fan-base. Now those fans can witness Casting Crowns live. Recorded October 5, 2003, Live From Atlanta lets you experience the excitement as the band's home church celebrates the launch of the group's debut album and the extension of the band's ministry worldwide. The 2-disc set includes a 6-song DVD with behind-the-scenes interviews and a live 6-song audio CD perfect for fans wanting to find out more about this rising star.

Overall I'm not usually a big fan of live albums. From much of my experience, live albums often show the weakness of many artists and show how much of the quality of their music is usually due to studio art rather than pure raw vocal and musical talent. With that said, I really enjoyed this release and thought that Casting Crowns does a great job in concert and presents their music very well and showcases their strength as musicians. This dual disc set features a CD of 6 songs performed live (5 from the bands first album along with one bonus track). The second disc is a DVD featuring live footage of those songs being performed. My only gripe is that I wish more tracks were offered.
