Let the voices of the saints join in triumphant song as Koiné unleashes its newest catalog of Christian hymns. In its third homage to the great lyrical art of the past 2000 years Koiné once again manages to make time honored songs spring from the stereo speakers with delight.
Featuring 14 hymns Volume III - Church Bells sits at just about 45 minutes long and never looses its momentum. From its energetic opener Oh that the Lord Would Guide My Ways to its moody My Song is Love Unknown to its powerfully contemplative Glory Be to Jesus this window into the churches past will leave you inspired and ready for more.
“This album has more of a seasonal flavor to it,” says guitarist Benj Lawrenz, “What’s great about the historic church is that when the bells would ring, the faithful knew that what they were about to hear was going to change their lives. This album has that same power in its lyrics.”
Church Bells is released to a hungry “grass roots” fan base. With 10,000 copies of their first two albums in circulation with little or no promotion, Koiné expects Volume III - Church Bells to meet if not exceed audiences expectations. “We just documented our music (Volume I- Self-Titled) as type of time capsule for ourselves musically and now we can’t keep up with the demand,” comments singer Brian Davison. Volume III will try to supply that demand as Koiné prepares to play at least 80 events outside its home church in Milwaukee, WI. This is quite a feat for an independent or “indie” church band who up to this point has never solicited a show. “This year we are looking to play as much as possible, going as far west as California and as far east as Washington DC,” says Davison.
