Originally formed as a praise band, Koiné quickly developed their own style and influence on the traditional Christian hymns they grew up singing along to. Koiné(Self-Titled), was simply meant to be a personal record or keepsake for the members, but as requests began to roll in for copies and the band began making more appearances outside their home church, Koiné - The Church Band, started thinking that their modern take on traditional favorites, might be shared with a wider audience.
The musician's rock roots shine through in songs like From All that Dwells Below the Skies and Crown Him With Many Crowns. While I'm But a Stranger Here and Chief of Sinners Though I Be have a more Americana flare to them. And you can't help but notice the band's Gospel/Blues take on What a Friend We Have In Jesus, perhaps influenced by the band's Urban Milwaukee Ministry.
