Relient K Rox!! | Posted June 24, 2009
I've been listening to Relient K ever since my sister played "Anatomy of the Tongue and Cheek" one night while we were going crazy sliding across the living room floor in bunny slippers (good times, gooood times). Ever since that night while screaming at the top of our lungs to "Sadie Hawkins Dance" (even though I didn't hardly know the words) I have been hooked on Relient K. I am the proud owner of 52 songs of theirs on my ipod plus the Christmas cd (Let it Snow Baby, Let it Reindeer) which I didn't feel like downloading to my ipod since I don't like listening to Christmas songs all year long.
I like Relient K because they are just as upbeat and fun to sing to as all the other songs on the charts, but they are also clean and deep. They don't care about being "politicly correct"; they come right out and say things that even challenge our essence of Christianity, such as the song "Down in Flames". But they also have a great sense of humor as in the song "Crayons Can Melt On Us For All I Care".
My favorite Relient K song would have to be "Deathbed. It is an 11 minute song (the longest song I have ever heard) and it goes through the whole process of an old man about to die and having flashbacks on his entire life. The song starts out with a lot of humor in the beginning, but my favorite part is at the end when he is about to die. He realizes his fear of Jesus and is praying to him to forgive him. The song took me on an emotional roller coaster because I have been through some of the same struggles with my faith.
To wrap this up, I must say that Relient K has been and probably will continue to be my favorite band of all time.
