Canadian born and Ontario resident, Sierra White, is a 20 year old Pop R&B Christian/Gospel artist. Raised in church her whole life, she entered the world of music through an opportunity to lead worship at her Hamilton, ON based church at the age of 16. Self taught in guitar and piano, she began posting cover songs of her favorite worship songs and positive pop music on Youtube. In 2016, she began to explore pursuing music while in her third year of college. She joined the Day 6 Management roster in early 2017 and has been developing her sound with releasing 2 covers in the spring, "In the Middle" and "Obvious?" and has just completed recording three more singles in the studio with award nominated Gospel producer, Tedy P in Atlanta, GA. The first of the three is a cover of Lecrae's latest single "I'll Find You" which features Tori Kelly.
"I couldn't believe a song was released with both of my favorite artists together, and when I heard it, I had to record and release my own cover of it," stated Sierra. "I love hip hop and R&B music and Tori is my primary inspiration as a vocalist, so this song was a perfect place to explore my vocals and rap ability. Lol. I don't consider myself a rapper, but I know when I'm inspired, I can spit a few verses."
Sierra suffers from S.A.D. (Social Anxiety Disorder) and has been working for years to overcome her fear. Sierra did not speak in public until the age of 8 and was diagnosed early on with severe anxiety. Into her teen years and now as a young adult, she has slowly learned ways to express herself in a public setting and music has become a pivotal tool that God has gifted her to do. "I have never really overcome the anxiety but when I'm performing, I'm able to focus on the music and honestly just trying to perform for an audience of one and that has helped me to become less nervous on stage," she added. "Once I get to know someone, I'm a lot more able to communicate freely, but it's not unusual for me to leave a group social activity to take a break because my heart races and I get overwhelmed with the amount of people in a room with me. I believe God is showing me how to overcome this very real disorder that affects millions of people in Canada and the United States alone. Music allows me to express my thoughts and voice when I'm not usually comfortable talking to people in person."
Sierra plans to release her debut EP of original Christian music in the spring of 2018 and has the initial original single from the project slated to release late November 2017.
