Emerging from Finland, Great Wide North want to highlight the importance of a living relationship with Jesus Christ through their folkrock style of music.
- Our goal is that people could enter into the presence of God through our music. As followers of Jesus we first and foremost have to seek what comes from God. This way we have something to give to the world. This is our mission as a band and individual believers, says band’s lead singer Kaj Kiviniemi.
The Kiviniemi brothers Mika, Petri, Pasi and Kaj have played music all their lives as a part of worship teams in the church and also in different bands over the years. It was in 2009 when they came back to their hometown Kokkola after studies that they found their shared vision and decided to form Great Wide North. After that the time has gone by in developing their own sound and writing songs.
They released a single ‘A Change is Gonna Come’ in January 2012 which has gained airtime on both Finnish and Swedish national Christian radio stations. In February 2012 they won the Finnish national championship in gospel music. They have also appeared in numerous national newspapers in Finland. Great Wide North is looking forward to minister with their music to live audience all over the world.
