Fighting Jacks have recently become the quintessential community-supported and rapidly burgeoning local band for San Jose, CA. Their volatile brew of post-punk and indie rock with a heavy sprinkling of mainstream appeal has enchanted audiences from the beginning. The members of the Fighting Jacks have come by their current credentials not by luck or chance, but by a healthy combination of hard work and raw talent.
Fighting Jacks have been around since the fall of 2000. changing members here and there until they settled upon their current line-up: Casey Linstrum, Cory Linstrum, Mike Wright, and Jon Sontag. While selling a couple thousand copies of their self-released "The Inside Trade Agreement" EP (recorded at J31 Studios with Gordon Gurley), the band rounded up a strong following in the South Bay frequenting venues such as the Los Gatos Outhouse, The Chemical Free Zone, and the Campbell Gaslighter Theatre. San Francisco's alternative station, Live 105 BFD helped certify the band's potential when they put them on stage at the Shoreline Amphitheater with the likes of Jimmy Eat World, The Strokes, Hoobastank, P.O.D., Rob Zombie,
Papa Roach, The Vines, Face to Face, and other pop music mainstays. They've challenged the Eastern and Northern frontiers by repeatedly signing on to the Cornerstone and Portico music festivals and recently reached further exposure with a couple of national tours.
In the fall of 2001, the Fighting Jacks allied with Sound Management, the San Jose-based company that propelled Smash Mouth to greatness and who works with Russian electronic temptresses t.A.T.u. This helped Fighting Jacks catch the attention of many record labels and obtain endorsements from companies such as Fender Guitars, Ayotte Drums, Gallien Krugger, Dean Markley Strings, Levi's and Dickies Clothing.
