Misconceptions| Posted August 25, 2007
A lot of people were looking for this to be a 'Christian' record. While some of the lyrics are good, and of course the music is great, I wouldn't call this a Christian Rock record.
I was actually pretty upset when I heard "Misery Business" on Christian Rock radio. I love the song, but it's not a Christian song. It belongs on the secular alternative rock stations...which is fine.
So many times, secular bands, or even Christian bands, get thrusted into the spotlight and have their little breakout moment. For Paramore, this CD, and the single "Misery Business" is theirs. 'All We Know Is Falling' got them on the map, and now they're all over the place.
Yes, they are Christians, but not every 'Christian' is going to spend their time, money, record deal, and touring opportunities on songs that glorify our Savior.
That's a little something to think about.
Anyways...
I like the record. I'm not a fan of the slower songs like "We Are Broken"...but I love "That's What You Get"...
That's what you get.. when you judge a band without paying attention.| Posted August 25, 2007
This record is incredible, I love it.
People are going to question "is this band
christian" why does it matter?
There is no such thing as Christian Music
just Christian lyrics. Hayley williams quotes
in HM magazine "As far as our music goes, if we didn't believe in God our music probably wouldn't be what it is, just because we'd be completely different people" and later on. " There's no obvious lyrics in our music that have to do with our faith. I feel like if I didnt believe in Jesus the lyrics wouldnt be what they are; but at the same time, I dont write about my faith in Christ. I feel like alot of bands like Underoath, and this providence do a great job of talking about their faith on stage every night, but for some reason whatever that is, I dont really feel like that is our calling."
You dont know what the LOrd is calling Paramore
to do so before you judge "R!ot" or Paramore, think about these things. Whore to me is not a bad word. Honestly, think about so many lyrics out there they are somuch worse. Paramore is far from that. They dont swear in any of their songs,
and read the thank you's. Dont bash the band just because all of their songs are not "Christian".
They have hope in their lyrics and Hayley writes from her heart, they all do. Every lyric on this cd and "all we know is falling" is true, and honest, and blunt.
Pay attention next time you judge a band before
actually getting to know who the band is
or what the record and the people are about.
You dont know their calling.

at first i didn't like this cd other than a few songs.. but as i listened to it i grew to like it. it was a big change from all we know is falling. the lead singer haley said the reason for the nameing the cd R!OT was for the deffeniton " a suden outburst of uncontroled emotions" and i think thats excactly what it is! i found it to be more truthful and that as a band they grew! over all this is a great album!
Paramore is a gift from God..| Posted September 22, 2007
They definitely are. I wouldn't be the person i am today without them. Hayley is one of my biggest heroes (besides Jesus of course).
She did a wonderful job on the lyrics to Riot! They really described what I was going through but hey, nobody is going to see the beauty in their songs if you are so stuck on the word "whore" ooo my gosh God is going to strike us dead for saying the naughty word. Truth is most girls these days are whores, doing whatever the heck they can to get a guy to be with them. Even if it means backstabbing and lying their way through it all.
So in the future, don't judge a band based off of one song. Do you know Hayley, Josh, Zac, and Jeremy personally? NO! So don't act like you have to wrestle with this issue if they are Christians or not. It's really not your business.
hey if Christian radio stations want to play Paramore. Let them!

yeah, i love the music, it sounds kind of like fireflight, but then fireflights lyrics are better, so i might as well just listen to that.
