With one listen to the music of Tenth Avenue North, it becomes obvious that songwriter Mike Donehey and his bandmates have a gift for expressing truth in a way that simultaneously educates, enlightens, and entertains. They are as much teachers as artists, demonstrating this through their intellectual, yet vulnerably accessible songs that echo the heart of the human condition and the hope of the risen Savior.
"Tenth Avenue North's melodies are memorable and the musicianship is taut and inventive, but it's Mike Donehey's incredible lyrics that literally moved me to tears. He has an uncanny ability to put words to the hopes, fears, dreams, and struggles we all carry in our hearts and on our shoulders," says Billboard Magazine's Deborah Evans Price. "To say this band is going to be 'the next big thing' feels like an understatement."

wow!| Posted August 05, 2009
this album is an all time favorite.
starting song "love is here" shows that Gods love never leaves us and we look for it everywhere but its always right in front of us.
i love how the rest of the albums songs support the main idea of "love is here."
positive lyrics.
good music.
passion for God.
you just can't go wrong with this band! :)
Absolutely Awesome| Posted June 23, 2009
If you ask me for one favorite song, I couldn't give you an answer. This whole album is wonderful. I have the whole thing on my Sansa Clip.

Not a bad one in the bunch| Posted May 22, 2009
If it's any indication of what I think of this CD, I listed it in my "5 albums you could listen to all the way thru without stopping" list on LivingSocially on Facebook. (I recently did!!)
The lyrics are refreshing,Scriptural, and riveting. Any of the songs could've been a single. My favorites are "Break Me Down" "Love Is Here" "You Are" "Hold My Heart" and "Satisfy". I love the emotion Mike Donehey puts into his voice in every song. He's also a very talented lyricist.
Keep 'Em coming| Posted February 08, 2009
I wished for this album this past Christmas and got it. Talk about being satisfied! This is an album and a half! A MUST-HAVE! I listened to the songs over and over again on the radio and watched the music videos on youtube, but I just am so glad I got the CD! =)
A power house| Posted February 07, 2009
I have to admit I initially bought this album for track three “by your side”. I have heard it played on the radio numerous times but never caught the artist name. Once I had the Album I realized I have actually been listening to three of their songs on the radio but have attributed them to other artist. Tenth Avenue North has a very common musical sound on this album. I mistakenly looked for them under Switchfoot, Casting Crowns, and various others. Musically the entire album is very solid and very well executed.
Lyrically the album is a power house. I am very impressed, every song on the album deals with belief and unbelief. Effort vs. Faith in balance with the Word. There is no one song that is a breakaway, on the other hand there is no one song that is a throw away either. Once you listen to the album in its entirety you quickly realize there is no one song that is a take away. What pushes this album into the excellent category, no one song makes the album. All the songs have to be taken together. Together they bring so much more of a message then any one track. The entire album brings a continuous message in eleven parts. If you get to hear ten tracks you heard most of the story but you miss the message.
This is not an album you will want to take in twenty minutes. This is an album that you will want to commit time to listen to. Achieving that is master craftsmanship at its best.
The lyrics stand out.| Posted October 27, 2008
This is a new group that has come out. With so many groups and singers coming out what makes this group stand out is their lyrics. The lyrics are focused on Christ and how we need to put ourselves aside and put our trust and hope in Him.

as i was walking in walmart through the cd isle, i was flipping through some cds trying to find needtobreaths cd, when i stumbled over this album, i checked it out since i have heard one of there songs(by your side) on the local christain radio station, i really like the song from the radio, so i gave it a chance bought the album and when i got a chance to listen to it i was amazed, i could tell that these guys really poured their hearts into this albumn every lyric is carefully written, i love the lyrics to the songs there so honest, and they are very well written. I would say that the first time hearing it that its a worship cd, which is weird for me because i like more of the rock, But after listening to it a couple of times i really really like it its more of a mellowed out rock than worship, its a really great cd, and i would say that TImes is my favorite song on the album. well thats it :] i definatlly recomend this cd to someone who likes quieter music or people who like rock but also appreciate worship songs.

AMAZING!!!| Posted June 10, 2008
Tenth Avenue North's debut album is the most wonderful things I have ever listned to. 'Love Is Here' is an amazing song and I am now hearing it on the radio. Mike Donehey really moves the lyrics on the 'By Your Side', 'Times', 'Hold My Heart', 'Beloved', 'Lovesick', and 'You Are'. I gave it 5 stars because all the words speak escpecially those six I listed together.
'Break Me Down' has a little rock theme to it and stands out from all of the other songs. 'Lift Us Up To Fall' speaks as a hymn, which is a nice touch to the album. Overall this album should be on a list to buy in the future for people who love this stuff.
one word: amazing!| Posted June 08, 2008
I love this CD. The songs are amazinggg! And something that makes me love them even more, is in the CD booklet thing, they wrote a 'dear friends' thing. and it was basically them thanking people who have bought their CD, and I quote, "layed down some hard earned cash". I have never heard to a band doing something like this, and I thought it made them seem really down to earth guys, which I'm sure they are. I could listen to this cd over and over and over again!!
