Fragrant Burning is the culmination of three years of singing scriptures spontaneously in the House of Prayer. Each track began as a spontaneous song of worship in live worship settings. Derek says:
"In the beginning, I wasn't intending this material to become a worship CD. These were simple songs of brokenness, longing, and affection for God. Through the process Jesus began to bring my broken heart back to life and breath vision back into my soul. As the songs began to touch others in a similar way, it began to make sense to record them and make them available."
