A Celebration of The Victory of Good Over Evil | Posted July 04, 2023
This song was co-written with Mark K. Murray and is a celebration of the victory of good over evil. For anyone who has ever faced life's demons, the song is a battle cry. Mark K. Murray (aka Borgbilly) created all instrumentation, establishing the song's electronic/ synthesizer foundational drive. I put my heart into the lyrics and melody to tell a story of overcoming.
Lepidoptera (aka Dr. Jennifer Gutierrez) shared the following background for this song:
I work full time in the medical field, and I work primarily in Palliative Medicine as a medical speech-language pathologist. (...and every now and then I play piano and write a song). Music/songwriting is my passion and stress relief...a bit of an escape from hard things at work. My patients often go through trauma, even if they survive their life-limiting diagnoses. I was inspired to write something "dripping" with attitude to motivate myself and others when the worst moments come.
The enemy will come...there will be dark days...and faith will be tested; however, we do not fight alone. One of my patients listens to this on repeat while undergoing chemotherapy for stage IV throat cancer.
My co-writer, producer, and the brains behind the instrumentation/synthesizers completed work on this tune while fighting stage IV lung cancer that had spread to his spine and affected use of his left hand. He's amazing! I am so proud of him and honored to work with him!
I just wanted to share a little bit of the "behind the scenes" to clarify the journey. It brings me closer to God (and others with whom I have shared), because it reminds us that we are stronger than we think amid adversity -- because of God. I have a "Disney" voice that I find to be all too imperfect, and many of my piano tunes/demos in their raw form lean more toward Kari Jobe. In full production, many of my songs are anthemic and cinematic, because I write message-driven music/lyrics.
