Not as Impressed| Posted March 25, 2008
I bought this album out of good faith hoping it'd match up to the others. I just couldn't get into it and some of the selections were just plain kooky. BUT, I'm still a fan and will continue buying their music :-)

BarlowGirl`s third release is a great cd for any BarlowGirl fan, yet with songs like Here`s my Life, Million Voices, and I Believe in Love, it is destined to enlarge BarlowGirl`s following. On their latest cd (entitled 'How Can We Be Silent',a call to stand for what is right) BarlowGirl rocks more than ever.
Exceeding Expectations| Posted February 19, 2008
This album is really amazing. I think that's partly because I had very, very low expectations going in because while I enjoyed their debut album, their second seemed to fall short. So I was pleasantly surprised by the diversity and talent that was put in to it. I personally liked 'One More Round' and 'Sweet Revenge' the best despite the fact that they're not the most popular. 'Take My Chances' and 'Song for the Broken' are very good as well. I can definately see the maturity of sound in this new album and I know that they can only get better from here so I'm anxiously awaiting their next album.
too amazing for words| Posted February 08, 2008
This album for me has such a strong influence in my life and I listen to it very often because it is a great compilation of amazing songs about life and faith and the battle we all are fighting and are going to have to fight against the world and all its immoral ideals.
This album to me is a great turning point for the girls. They've grown and matured and this album displays that in so many ways. Vocally and Musically I believe they have really come into their own and done something incredible with this album.
I do enjoy and love every song but there are so gems that really stand out.
Here's My Life-The Lyrics are what really capture me in this song and then also the ways its arranged musically is great! The girls wrote it about being away from home and their family members while on tour and how hard it is to give your all for your faith and sacrifice precious time with the people you love but at the end of the day saying "lord I know you have called me for your work so once more here is my life" I've really connected with this song because of its great message of endurance in faith.
I Believe In love-this song is currently climbing the radio charts and that is no surprise to me because Its a great song both lyrically and musically. The Chorus was actually inspired by the words on the wall of a mens concentration camp which say "I Believe in the sun in even when its not shining,I Believe in love even when I don't feel it, and I Believe in god even when he is silent" Alyssa Barlow read that quote in a book and shared with her sisters who both agreed that it should be a song. BalowGirl really did something great with song in that they wrote it with reverence to the words of that unknown holocaust victim and yet they delved even deeper into the heart and spirit of that quote making this song an extremely beautiful and touching song.
Keep Quiet-I'll admit musically its not as strong as some of the songs on the album but I am absolutely in love with its message of the importance to speak our saviors name no matter how unpopular it is. They put it so perfectly in the chorus when they say "when all of the hope of the worlds in your name why are we so scared to say Oh Jesus?" This song really has reinforced my desire to be a fearless Jesus freak so to speak and to not be afraid to say my saviors name no matter where I'm at or who I'm with!
Million Voices-This is without a doubt the most hard rock BarlowGirl song I ever heard and I completely adore it! Its a bold song with an even bolder message to this generation to stand up and shake up this world for the glory of our god. It was inspired by the scripture 1 peter 2:9 that talks about us being a holy nation and the chosen generation of god. All around this is a powerful song and its one of those songs that makes you want to be passionate for the righteous things in life and not olny say it but live it and live it boldly!! "We're a million strong and getting stronger they'll remember we were here. We're the million voices breaking silence till they'll remember we were here!" AMEN!!!
One more around-At first I was not sure how I felt about this song because it is so different then any of their music but it has definitely grown on me and every time I listen to it I love it more and more! The girls said that their desire for this song was to paint a picture of the spiritual battle we all face when we fight for what is right and in the song its shown in a boxing analogy that is very unique and fun. Its all about getting back up every time we get knocked down and taking it another round because with god on our side we are invincible!
The Guy Song-This song is also unique in that its a purity song that is not written for girls but actually completely for the men of this generation to say that the lord desires them to be Valiant warriors. Musically its also pretty unique and Becca Barlow really displays her great talent as a female guitarist. Its a very up beat song that never seem to slow down but I think its fitting to the lyrics and message of the song. Even though it was written for guys I find that I can interpret for my life too especially when it talks about over coming the distractions of the world.
I don't regret-This is a very beautiful song about what it means to give your heart to the lord and not look back with any regrets because he is and always will keep his promises to us. Alyssa Barlow sings it very well. She has a voice that is suited for rock music but also can be very tender and soothing and she definitely displays Beautiful vocals in this song. Its a very moving song that we can all relate to about the lord who loves us and should always be the keeper of our hearts.
How Can We Be Silent is a powerful album and anthem for that matter especially when a person listens to it and relates every part of its message to their lives. Alyssa,Lauren, and Becca have a great talent for writing real songs with real substance and I'm amazed by how much their music has influenced me over the years.

How Can We Be Silent Literally Rocks| Posted September 21, 2007
How Can We Be silent does have BarlowGirl's harmonies but there's rock with pop, and jazz. You could be singing to any song on the album. I stayed up every Sunday night listening to a new song off the album before it came out!!!! ;)

This album is really moving. BarlowGirl has really matured with their sound, their lyrics...everything! I was anticipating this CD so much before it came out, and I wasn't disappointed! I can't even pick one song on here as my favorite...I like them all and the message that they give! BarlowGirl is just about the best band ever, in my opinion.
