Eleven original tracks, Rob has called this his most honest album yet.
Kicking off with ‘Heavenfield’, a driven acoustic song with a fascinating background story, the tone is set for the rest of the album.
The next tune, ‘Hope’ is already familiar to many having been part of Rob’s current fund-raising drive for Ethiopian pre-schools. Other highlights include a reworking of ‘All We Need Is Love’, duetted with Esther O’Connor, who also lends her vocals to the albums title track.
There’s a lot about the doubts that we face on this album and influences range from Steve Earle and Bruce Springsteen to shades of Tom Petty backing on Edom’s Hills. It’s a lot more acoustic-roots than The Perils, Robs last CD, but looses not of the life.
As well as the CD, there’s also the song book that contains chord sheets and the stories behind the songs, and Robs diary from his trip to Ethiopia last year.
