The University of Mobile's brand-new record label, 8Eighty Records, has officially released its first album, a collection of worship music recorded live on the UM campus.
The University launched 8Eighty last week, announcing that the label would "develop a catalog of original songs written by students and alumni." A new recording studio is under construction on campus and is expected to be operational by the end of the year.
The label's debut release is "Our God is Faithful: Live Worship from the University of Mobile." According to information provided by UM, the album includes original material written by UM students and alumni, as well as versions of popular worship songs.
The title song was written by alumnus Zach Adamson. Jeff Quimby, general manager of 8Eighty, described it as "a powerful song of hope" that "reminds us of the never-changing, steadfast love of our God." Scroll down to see the video.
A UM news release quoted the label's executive director, Jason Breland, as saying the album is "in keeping with the mission of 8Eighty Records -- impacting the church with worship and songs of faith through God's unique gifts and abilities of the student body and alumni from the University of Mobile."
