Coming together from various avenues, the five members of Tooth & Nail Records’ newest signing, Nine Lashes, have one common thread: to stand up for what they believe and pour their hearts into everything they do. Discovered by Trevor McNevan of Thousand Foot Krutch, Nine Lashes pours forth a modern rock sound that is as melodic as it is heavy. Their debut release, World We View, features guest vocals from Demon Hunter’s Ryan Clark (“Our Darkest Day”) and is sure to please modern rock fans.
Nine Lashes’ name is derived from the whip uses to beat Jesus – cat of nine tails. “We never want to forget what He did for us, and we hope that our band name beckons people to ask this very question – it is what we are all about,” explains Jonathan Jefferson.

The title says it all. I've only known this band since Tooth & Nail announced them on their label a few months back. But despite sounding like a mix of Red and Breaking Benjamin they hold their own uniqueness. I totally assumed they were just that mix and nothing more, but WOW. This is a must buy, everything is crisp and never bores you. Just... just buy it when it comes out already.

The whole preview was just ecstacy to my ears. Beaultifully done and the messages within the songs really spoke to problems in this world. it was a nice mix of the genere's;rock, metal, acoustic and just the combinations and rythms played really brought it all together.

New Tooth & Nail band Nine Lashes makes a statement with their label debut, World We View. Right from the get-go you are assaulted with huge guitar riffs, killer bass lines, and thundering drums and it dosn't let up until the soothing and down to earth final track. You can tell that they take some inspiration for their hard rock sound from such bands like RED and Thousand Foot Krutch but Nine Lashes manages to make it their own.
While some bands are leaning more and more towards a more radio friendly pop sound, bands like Nine Lashes are going the complete opposite direction and instead making hard hitting music that would give you some serious ear damage if cranked all the way up. World We View is a stellar label debut that makes you feel like metaphorically punching something in the face. (Don't actually do that. It would end badly for both parties involved.) This is one album that any fan of good hearty rock music should pick up at their local music store (or download from iTunes or Amazon if you're into that sort of thing,) next week.

Vocally impressive, his range is awesome. There are clear influences, but the sound is uniquely NL. The rock anthem sound is thick, heavy, it drives in a good way.
It is great to hear / see great rock music from our Christian brothers. Brilliant effort by Nine Lashes!

I am very impressed with this band. The music is hard but the vocals are easy to understand and have a wonderful blend. Very talented group and looking forward to being able to buy the album next week. Thanx guys for a wonderful music addition to the Christian community.
