HOLYWEEK Vol 1 is a strong follow up to well-established musician, songwriter, and producer Greg LaFollette's 2018 record
Songs of Common Prayer. The six song album continues LaFollette's mission to provide congregational worship resources to the Church. Joined by celebrated Catholic-Christian artist Sarah Kroger, he extends his passion for ecumenical worship and unifying the Body of Christ.
The songs are based on themes found in the traditional Holy Week services, and the music is both comforting and exacting; skillfully guiding the listener through hymns and psalms of fear, loss, trust, and surrender.
HOLYWEEK Vol 1 is a gift to any congregation that wants to include more Scripture-based elements into its services; and as a tool for personal prayer, it inspires hope, faith and peace.
LaFollette has been involved in more than one hundred records in his career. He has worked with Andrew Peterson, Audrey Assad, Sara Groves, Leslie Jordan of All Sons and Daughters, Robbie Seay Band and many others. He has been featured in multiple prominent podcasts and published in
CCM Magazine, The Rabbit Room,
Relevant Magazine, and
The Gospel Coalition. His last record,
Songs of Common Prayer, an album of congregational worship songs centered around prayers found in the
Book of Common Prayer, garnered much attention and was supported by church partnerships across the US. LaFollette has had multiple placements in international advertising campaigns with his band Trouvere, and has contributed many songs to others' records. His passion to equip the Church is palpable: "I'm always grateful when I hear that a song I have written for me or my people is useful for someone else. Whether it is sung by a congregation in a church service or given as a gift to a grieving friend, I hope my music feels trustworthy while still telling the truth." Known for his vulnerable and veracious vocal approach, simple and effective production, and beautiful melodic sense; LaFollette wants his music to be a reminder to the Church that what unites it is greater than what divides it. Greg LaFollette is a producer and spiritual director in Nashville,TN. He is the resident artist at a local church plant, Grace Story Church, and serves as their director of arts and liturgy.
