The indie tribe artist had this to say about the debut: "I wrote Canopy coming out of a time of isolation and darkness. It felt like my life was completely falling apart and I'd have to start over again from nothing. God showed me that sometimes there's safety and protection in isolation. Sometimes, the darkness makes it easier to see the light."
Since leaving Reflection Music Group (where he worked as Derek Minor's road manager) in summer of 2014, Dylan "nobigdyl." Phillips has been busy crafting his own recognized talent behind a mic. Technically speaking, Minor "fired" Phillips, encouraging him to pursue his amazing gift of lyricism and unique sound. He began doing that the following year (2015) with the release of his first EP, titled Smoke Signal. Within a two year timeframe, nobigdyl. aggressively moved forward by dropping two additional EPs and a total of 11 singles, with his latest "Purple Dinosaur" releasing last November.
