Hello... it's SHINEBRIGHT. Covering the mainstream smash single du jour.
BEC pop/rock group SHINEBRIGHT just got off the Be the Change Tour with O.B.B. and All Things New, but they're not slowing down at all. The band, anchored by husband-and-wife team Emily and Nathan Fertig, were captivated (like most of the world) by Adele's first new song in several years, "Hello," and they decided to film a raw acoustic cover of the tune.
"So in love with this song!" Emily wrote in a post to fans on Facebook. Emily's raspy-yet-poppy vocals are a definite departure from the smokiness of Adele's original rendition, but the fact that SHINEBRIGHT wasn't trying to sound like Adele is what makes the cover work.
Take a listen for yourself and write your thoughts in the comments below.
In related news, indie pop artist Jerry Fee covered "Hello," tweaking the melody a bit and blasting the notes in a male vocal range.
