The Journey to Zion album talks about the struggles of life, the battles of the mind and heart, restoration, deliverance, and hope. As his parent, I journeyed alongside Zion through the valleys and mountains of his life. This album is an expression of worship through the lens of my son Zion. Now my heart aches as I long to be reunited with him some day as I journey towards Heaven, the place where I believe he currently rests. To the One who holds my son. Just before Zion turned 3 years old, he battled an aggressive brain tumor before crossing over to be with his Creator. Zion loved music and creative arts. Zion’s life was marked with purpose, his story has become a legacy through Out of Zion* that points people to Jesus, the One to whom Zion belongs. Psalm 87 embodies the entire message of the Journey to Zion album. It includes an invitation to us all no matter what tribe, or what past, or history we have inherited. We are all invited to Journey to Zion, to make music and sing to the Lord. He has founded his city on the holy mountain. The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the other dwellings of Jacob. Glorious things are said of you, city of God. The LORD will write in the register of the peoples: “This one was born in Zion.” As they make music they will sing, “All my fountains are in you.”
*Out of Zion is a creative arts program for children with medical and special needs.
