David and the Giants formed in 1969, but were not a Christian band at the time. They toured playing songs by other mainstream artists. But then in 1977 their Christianity led them to release independently their first Christian album, Song of Songs. They followed that album with four more albums released independently before Priority Records released their national debut in 1982. One interesting musical fact: Their drummer from 1979 until 1992 was Keith Thibodeaux, who played "Little Ricky" on the I Love Lucy show.
