Love It!

By Prism,
The third book in the Lucy Rooney series by Nancy Rue, Lucy's "Perfect Summer", is my personal favorite in the series not only because Lucy grows as a young woman and my favorite Bible character, Esther, is highlighted in the story, but also because of the soccer aspect. Lucy gets selected from a special team, but she soon find that the team is anything but perfect. More specifically, bullying and cheating in the beautiful game of soccer. I love the realistic description of the games and techniques used, as I was involved in soccer in elementary school, like Lucy. Red cards, threats, and lying have to be faced as Lucy tries to do what is right and fix her summer. However, her team's field gets destroyed, Lucy's best friend, J.J., seems to be hiding something, her team is having a hard time without her, she has "school" in the summer with Mr. Auggy, and her dad is in danger of losing his job. And, as always, Lucy has to watch out for her Aunt Karen, who will stop at nothing to change Lucy and make her live with her. What Lucy thought would be the best summer even becomes a nightmare. But with the help of Inez, the Rooneys' housekeeper, and the story of Esther, Lucy learns that sometimes the right thing isn't the easiest thing, but it doesn’t mean it should not be done. With flash floods, big games, the love of soccer, and lots of God, I highly recommend this book. View All Music And Book Reviews By Prism | View Prism's Profile
