The music industry has survived just about every technological disruption thrown its way — from the rise of CDs to pirated downloads to the dominance of digital streaming–and has managed to come out stronger each time.
So it should come as no surprise that instead of resisting the rise of AI-generated music–a category widely criticized and often ridiculed by listeners–the industry is now fully embracing it.
Earlier today, one of the world's largest label conglomerates announced the launch of NOT REALLY christAin, a brand-new imprint dedicated entirely to AI-generated Christian artists and songs.
The model is simple.
A prompt like "write a Christian worship song about surrender" is entered into one of the dozens of AI music platforms launching each month, by someone at random with zero musical talent. Within seconds, a fully produced track is generated, assigned a completely fabricated artist identity, and paired with AI-created headshots, social media accounts, and a compelling–but entirely fictional–backstory.
From there, the content is scaled.
AI-generated lyric videos, vertical clips, and social posts are deployed at mass volume–reportedly reaching thousands of uploads per hour–ensuring what one insider described as "total digital saturation."
One anonymous executive attempted to explain the strategy:
"Imagine a group of strangers walking into a church and instantly filling the entire sanctuary–floor to ceiling–with a constant stream of brown liquid. Non-stop. Day and night. Eventually, no one can get in, and everyone inside is forced out! That's NOT REALLY christAin. We're incredibly excited about it."
Questions surrounding theological accuracy, lyrical depth, and spiritual accountability were not addressed during the announcement.
Launching on day one with over 8,000 AI-generated artists and a catalog exceeding 600,000 songs, the label claims it expects to dominate Christian radio, streaming platforms, and charts globally within 30 days.
The long-term outlook, according to early projections, leaves little room for traditional artists.
"Yes. Christian music, as we know it, is effectively over," one internal memo reportedly stated. "Replaced by prompts, outputs, and engagement loops driven almost entirely by automated systems–consumed primarily by other automated systems."
"If you're looking to buy or sell in the Nashville area, now's a great time," added Micah Tyler, unveiling a new venture under the name TyleReality. "Seriously... call me."
In response to the announcement, NewReleaseToday confirmed it will immediately rebrand to NewReleaseNever, with staff reportedly "taking the rest of the day off indefinitely."
