A day after Bryce Avary released his Christmas Madness EP, The Rocket Summer's first-ever Christmas project. and so far, it appears to have exceeded expectations. The EP, recorded by Avary on a whim and released with no advertising and exposure only through The Rocket Summer's social networks, climbed to No. 6 on the iTunes holiday charts, beating the likes of Mariah Carey, Justin Bieber and Charlie Brown Christmas.
The EP features three original tunes and a stripped-down, emotional cover of "O Holy Night."
In a message to his fans via Facebook, Avary said, "Not everyone puts out a last minute EP and then watches it rise up the iTunes charts with zero ads or any kind of strategic marketing. And it's not because of me. … You guys and your loyalty keep this thing alive and fresh. Thankful for this crazy technology and for the people that made it. Thank you God for Rocket Summer fans. Thank you God for music."
