What You Need To Know:
V. Rose signifies that consistent artist that brings the heat while tearing off layers to expose her issues, and even scars. She has been dropping singles and EPs that have been “heaters,” and I have been waiting for her to drop her full-length album. Finally, she comes through with the release of Forth, another lineup of syncopation, trap, and banging beats with V. Rose giving us that control to that she has mastered, but also “staying in her lane.” However she has upgraded lyric-wise, and we are here for it.
What it Sounds Like:
“Might Be Ready” provides an inside look into her personal life via a vulnerable admittance to getting a yearly question from a special someone if she is ready for marriage–it seems as if she and this person are inching closer to the real thing. Her candor is expressed, albeit to chilled out “At My Worst,” this time appreciating God’s patience and unconditional love in spite of even the ugliest part of her. We also watch V. Rose go from the smooth singer to a fast spitting emcee, and back into a singer on “He Knows My Name.”
These are urban “psalms” that are identifiable for those who are growing in the faith, as well as those who are wondering if there are “real,” authentic Christians. People will be able to bang this in their cars while also being encouraged in their relationship with Christ. V. Rose connects!
Best Song on the Record:
The collaborations on Forth worked well and it shows that V. Rose doesn’t just pick anyone to fill up a record; it has to work sonically and organically. Danielle Apicella joins in on “Can’t Let,” an acoustic soul jam that has a smooth vibe to it. Both ladies say goodbye to bad thoughts and anything getting in the way of what God has in store for their lives. “I Got You” features Eris Ford, and I actually had to listen more than once to tell the ladies apart. The production and vocal prowess of Eric and V. Rose were melded so well that they sounded like the same vocalist.
For Fans Of:
Hillary Jane, Virtue, Evan and Eris
V. Rose has music and a message that is great for youth and young adults. She is someone that you want to play for young ladies, and her music is relatable. Forth is more of the same dopeness that we expect from her!
Buy Forth on Apple Music or stream it on Spotify.
