P86 releases another solid effort

First off, I would like to say I've been a big fan of Project 86 since they released "Truthless Heroes", and enjoy every cd in their catalog. I pre-ordered "Rival Factions" and received it a couple days before it was released. Immediately I threw it in my CD player and sat down with the CD booklet and listened to it all the way through. On the first listen, I was a bit disappointed. I really enjoyed "...And The Rest Will Follow" and was hoping for more music in that direction. Although the first 3 songs are in a way similar, the rest of Rival Factions goes in a more 80's pop direction. Imagine P86 + 80's pop and you have the last 7 songs of Rival Factions. On the first time through with this CD I had a tough time with this new musical direction, but upon the second and third listen the music REALLY began to grow on me. I think I was addicted to "Molotov" (the 4th track) for at least a week. Overall, this album takes some time to grow on you, but in the end its another solid P86 release.
