Top 5 Rejected Christian Music April Fool's Headlines From ChatGPT (April Fools 2023)
The viral technology still has a long way to go if it’s ever going to make it as an NRT April Fool's Headline writer

Every year, the NRT staff sits down to brainstorm dozens of fake Christian Music headlines for April Fool's Day that never see the light of day. The hunt for great ideas requires many bad ideas to be sifted through. So, in an effort to help mine Christian fake news gold, we turned to ChatGPT this year– the artificial intelligence software that is taking the internet by storm–to help with that brainstorming.
The results were... not great.
Here are five real suggested headlines that we're still trying to figure out. And if you missed our fake news for 2023 on this fine April Fool's Day, you can read about Chris Tomlin, MercyMe, NF and "Weird Al," We The Kingdom, and an update on the crazy church job Trademark war.
1. for KING & COUNTRY To Release A Concept Album About the History Of Sandwiches, Called 'The Sandwich Chronicles'
This feels like the ChatGPT servers got stuck in multiple dimensions and shorted out right before completing this artificially created thought. In what world does anyone care about the history of the sandwich and why would that be a theme to create an album around? April Fool's is all about crazy concepts, but this one needs a lot of condiments in order to choke down.
2. Kanye West Announces New Album Featuring Duet With Jesus Christ Himself
This one got our attention, but we quickly erred on the side of, "please don't strike me down with lightning." I will say though, Jesus could probably spit some serious fire on any mic.
3. Switchfoot Changes Name To 'Switchhand,' Reveals New Album Entirely Composed and Played With Their Non-Dominant Hands
Given the fact that I elicit deep-in-the-belly laughter when I do anything with my left hand, I found this headline both fascinating and frustrating. Fascinating because of the absolute complexity it would take to make this a reality. If I tried to play music with my left hand, it would sound worse than any local preschool class banging uncontrollably during "Bring Your Toy Instruments Day." And frustrating because Switchfoot is already incredibly talented, and shouldn't be able to pull this off as well. Thankfully, on both counts, it's fake.
4. Casting Crowns To Release New Album Featuring Only Songs Written and Performed By Their Children
Here's the deal. We love to support and encourage Christian artists. We work hard to not tear them down, critique them, or slander them in any way. With the exception of April Fool's Day. Then all bets are off. But even then, I couldn't write this one in a way that wasn't just... mean. So I stopped trying. Besides, their children are all in their 30s. Grandchildren would have felt more realistic.
5. Amy Grant Reveals Plans To Launch Her Own Fragrance Line, Inspired By the Scents of the Bible
Sometimes, the responses from ChatGPT warrant a follow-up question, and this headline required an obvious one: "What does the Bible smell like?"
"The Bible is a book made up of various materials like paper, ink, and binding glue, which may have their own distinct smells. However, it's important to remember that the Bible is a sacred text with significant religious and cultural importance to many people, and its value is not based on its physical scent or appearance."
Well played ChatGPT. And I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Amy Grant's Bible Paper Glue perfume is going to be a big hit.
