Recently, John Cooper announced to Blabbermouth.net that new music from Skillet will be releasing this year. He said that the songs were born out of COVID and a population questioning their faith during that time. This isn't Cooper's only project bouncing off of these ideas. Earlier this year, he released his book Awake and Alive to Truth which dove into the search for truth in a chaotic world.

Cooper has always been very outspoken about his faith, and funneling this into music is a core part of Skillet. "All things were created by God," Cooper said in response to a question of whether rock music is from the Devil or not. "So instead of thinking that the Devil owns a genre of music, I would say capture that music and bring it back into subjection under the lordship of Christ."

Cooper went on to say, "So, everybody lookout for new Skillet music this year. I hope it rocks your face off."
