Earlier this year, Korey Cooper, guitarist and founding member of Christian rock band Skillet, proudly watched her husband and band frontman, John Cooper, launch his beard product line. She also played a pivotal role in helping friend and Skillet drummer, Jen Ledger, launch a successful solo career.
Now, it's her turn to shine as Korey announces the opening date for her first storefront for newly launched Korey's Cupcakes.
"Many don't realize that Skillet was truly born in the kitchen," Korey says. "I love shredding coconut and baking pastry as much as I love shredding guitars and baking up sick music for our audiences and I'm so excited for this new venture!"
The storefront will open this summer in downtown Franklin, TN, a growing and bustling district just outside of Nashville, TN.
Multiple shirt designs are already available for pre-order with tongue-in-cheek tag-lines like "A Best Kept Secret," "Better Than Drugs" and "Hey You, I Love Your Cupcakes!"
Five flavors based on popular Skillet songs will debut on the menu: "Monster Mocha" (a chocolate and coffee combo), "Heroberry" (with real chunks of fruit baked in), "Saturn's Moonpie" (a cake twist on the classic packaged treat), "Alien Youth Goo" (with its lime green liquid center) and the sure to be fan-favorite, "Awake and Alive" (infused with 6 times the caffeine of a regular cup of coffee).
Korey promises seasonal and limited time flavors will appear on the menu regularly, "so that customers won't get sick of it," she says with a sly grin.
