The transformation of former Christian act Katy Hudson into controversial secular act Katy Perry has long been a point of deep concern and mourning for many a Christian music fan, but new evidence suggests that they may not, in fact, be the same person.
Conventional knowledge among music fans has been that Christian singer Katy Hudson reinvented herself as Katy Perry--taking her mother's maiden name--in order to distance herself from her days as a Pamplin Records pop artist.
Using a public white pages directory, NRT News has discovered that there is a woman whose legal name is Katy Hudson living outside of Detroit--dealing a major blow to the Hudson-to-Perry theory.
"Who did you say you were with?" asked Hudson, when contacted by NRT News. In an interview that could only be described as evasive, she said, "I don't really know anything about a pop singer in Christian or mainstream music."
Hudson apparently enjoys living a private life since recording her first--and apparently only--album, the eponymous
Katy Hudson. She declined to reveal what she's up to these days in Michigan, stating, "I don't know who you are and why you're calling. I don't know how else to say this, but I'm not who you think I am."
Indeed, Hudson isn't who we think she is. While most people believe Katy Hudson went on to sell millions of records and abandon Christianity as Katy Perry, the real Katy Hudson is living a quiet, private life in suburbia. And apparently she's happily married.
"I'd really appreciate it if you'd stop calling," Hudson said. "I don't want this to get ugly. My husband is a police officer and doesn't take kindly to harassment."
But the question on everyone's mind is, does Hudson still sing?
"Actually, you wouldn't believe this, but..." said Hudson as the phone call with NRT News abruptly and unexpectedly ended. NRT News was unable to reach Hudson again.
"Let's look on the bright side," Hudson's former manager, Jeff Dunaway stated, "at least we know Katy Hudson is still out there."
