We Believe (Poem)
We believe...we,
I am not alone, but I stand responsible for me,
We believe: a verbal statement connecting the words of my head with the living actions of my flesh,
We believe,
Not winsome and romantic,
Not smooth and polished like a gemstone, but organic and life-giving, like compost, Permeating ripe smells of a good harvest past, and the potential of future harvest,
We believe,
Bombs blow, stress strangles,
Power-possessors hoard, so some have none, yet we believe,
I will not allow circumstantial hurricanes to pry from my clenched fists the rope that tethers me and you, and our souls, Godward.
