Cushman, author of Leaving Yesterday (2009), offers a contemporary Christian coming-of-age novel. Grace has a bad habit of relying only on herself and of running away from problems, although she has always tried to be a good mother to four-year-old Dylan. She long ago decided the risks of vaccination against measles outweighed the benefits after seeing her good friend Jasmine struggle to raise an autistic child. Reluctantly responding to her older sisterís pleas for assistance when their father needs knee surgery, Grace returns to her Tennessee hometown, only to be devastated when Dylan, her beloved niece, and several other infants in the church nursery fall seriously ill. When her boss in California needs her, too, Grace has some hard decisions to make, and very much needs the help of a few understanding true believers.
