When I heard Ted Dekker's newest novel Kiss was coauthored I was scared! He is by far my favorite author and I was afraid his style wouldn't shine through. The line between Dekker's voice and Erin Healy's cannot be found. Their styles flow together brilliantly, creating an unforgetable thriller. (I'm sure their prior work together helped).

Healy gives some great insight into the mind of the main character, both being female. Or is it Dekker's alter-ego Samantha? (Any Thr3e fans out ther)? Severed family ties; a possibly corrupt family corporation; presidential race; political scandal; family tragedy; human-trafficking; drug trafficking; and lost love gives this story it's tag line of

Heart pounding meets heart warming!

Did I miss anything?

From the first page I was hooked. Every touch revealed a secret, opened Shauna up to an unknown world that I could not get enough of. With every chapter I became more invested in the story and more desperate for answers. Each day I wanted to race home to read more.

Using real world issues and a bit of imagination, Dekker again creates a great thriller. His collaboration with Healy, I'll gladly admit, did not disappoint. The countdown beings...One year till Burn!

Fantastic. | Posted February 04, 2011
Ted Dekker did it again. This book is simply amazing. It keeps you up all night, on the edge of your bed, practically ripping the pages from flipping them so quickly.

This book was a good read, if not a little slow in the beginning. However when it started going, it was great and I totally loved how he and Healy ended the novel. Another success by Ted Dekker.

Good Day Kiss | Posted July 15, 2009
I have really been quite fond of Ted Dekker's work for quite a while now. I was very excited about reading Kiss. Imagine waking up from a coma with no idea about what happened to you. People you trust tell you the details of an accident you were in and some of the things are simply shocking. Some of the details make you question the you that you think you are. Imagine the pain of being told that you are the cause for your brother's devastating injury. What do you do? Do you try to remember what happened so you can literally relive the horrible memories or do you accept what you are told?

I found it believable that Shauna would want to know the truth. From what you read about Shauna before the accident, it is obvious that she would have a tenacious personality that would compell her to where she simply would have to know no matter what the cost to her. There were times that I felt the bad guys and the good guys were a little obvious. I am not sure if this is because Dekker and Healy made them obvious or if they were obvious because I read so many thrillers that I kind of get a good idea of the bad verses the good.

SEMI SPOILER:
There were a few times where I was stunned that Shauna would confide more than once to a person who she could not fully trust. I felt like grabbing her and telling her to shut up!

The supernatural elements were believeable to me. Dekker and Healy made it easy to let go of the doubts and enjoy the flow of the story. It was also nice seeing the character struggle with her new abilities. I did like the direction of the story and for the most part it was beleiveable.

I only had a few problems with the book. I had a hard time getting into it in the beginning. I was pulled into it a lot more fully mid way through the book, but once I did get into it, I was ready to take the whole ride. I thought the relationship with Shauna and her dad was cleared up really oddly. This woman endured years of pain from a distant father and an abusive step mom. I believe forgiveness and restoration is possible in life, but I want to see it happen when it is such an important part of a story.

All in all I think this was a great read. It was a Christian book, but it was more so in subtle messages than out and out preachiness. I liked the main characters and felt the minor characters were well done as well. This paranormal theme is definitely something I hope to see explored again.

Challenging Kiss | Posted July 01, 2009
This book led me to think deeply about the struggles we go through. Led me to think about why we go through them and why we can't seem to forget them. There are lessons learned in all of them.
And let me just say that I'm glad I could never steal someones memories with my touch...
It was a very well written and interesting story. I can't wait for Burn to come out!

Dekker Doesnt Dissapoint! Healy Great First Novel | Posted June 10, 2009
Ted Dekker is back and he doesnt hold anything back in his new novel. I really love the whole Circle/Book of History titles but I was ready for another stand alone title. This time Dekker teams up with Erin Healy a book editor and first time novelist and they dont disappoint with Kiss.

After a Car accident Shauna McAllister wakes up from a coma and has no memory of the last 6 months of her life. She finds out her brother Rudy who was in the accident is severly brain damaged and that she tested positive for drugs which caused the accident. She returns home to live with her estranged father Landon McAllister the texas Senator and Presidential nominee and her abusive step mother Patricia. Everyone blames her for the accident and what happened to her brother.

Her only friend is Wayne Spade, her boyfriend (that she has no recollection of) who tries to help her through this difficult time.

A great story of redemption and a very intriguing story. I really loved the story and this is a must for Dekker fans and for fans of great suspense stories.

Disappointing | Posted May 27, 2009
After finishing Kiss, all i can say was that i was disappointed. I had expected something else from Ted Dekker. But that doesn't detract from the story he has to tell, it is a very different story than you will expect if you expect the usual from Ted Dekker. I can't say that i like this version of Ted, nor can i say that i'm too excited about the rumored book that he will also be coauthoring with Erin Healy. Though i shouldn't shoot it down before i've read it. But to continue about Kiss; the characters were very well developed(as usual) and the plot line also had its twists(also as usual. However, i found the end very disappointing, i had expected something more, don't want to spoil the book for those that haven't read it. But lets just say the ending was abrupt and didn't fully explain the end. Though i might be wrong and probably should read it again. Overall, so far definitely not my favorite book of Ted, but it is worth the read.
