An Impressive Debut EP

What You Need To Know:
Kalley Heiligenthal is part of the Bethel Music group in Redding, California. She's co-written many of the band's songs, inlcuding "Every Crown" off of Bethel's Victory album, "Let The Redeemed" by Josh Baldwin, and of course "Ever Be" that churches have come to know and love. Kalley has now ventured into a brand new solo EP project called Faultlines, and has released it in two volumes.

What it Sounds Like:
Kalley's sound is different than Bethel Music's sound, and could easily be described as "worshipful pop." Each song is filled with new ideas along with Biblical truths, and there is not a song you would want to skip on Faultlines Vol. 1! Kalley's unforgettable songs and lyrics are relatable for people in every walk of life, and are impressive for this being her debut EP project.

Spiritual Highlights:
As soon as I read the title of Kalley's song "Alabaster Heart," I immediately thought of the story the song is referring to in Mark 14:1-11, where a woman from Bethany came to Jesus with an alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume, and poured it on Jesus' head. The song explains the need for us to give everything we have to Jesus because He is worthy of our praise. The perfume was worth more than three hundred denarii, which in US money is estimated to be about one hundred and fifty thousand dollars. This woman gave her everything to Jesus, so we should pour out our all to Him. "So here it is, my alabaster heart / I'm keeping nothing back from who You are / no hidden treasure veiled by key or lock / You're a lifetime worth of worship / and that's only just the start"

Best Song on the Record:
My favorite song on the record is "Oasis." Though I loved every song on this EP, that one in particular sticks out to me. It's a catchy song that seems like it never gets old, and it's both an encouraging and lyrically well-done song. "The main idea is that regardless of whatever situation you find yourself in - the driest of desert, the toughest place - that we always have a wellspring inside of us," Kalley shares. "Sometimes we don't control how long we're in a difficult situation, sometimes that's not up to us."

For Fans Of:
Amanda Lindsey Cook, Lauren Daigle, Bethel Music

Final Word:
Kalley puts a fresh new perspective on music in a way that could appeal to many people. If there was a bridge between worship, pop, and inspo music, this EP would be it. The lyrics and the tune of every song are beautiful and well done, and this EP is one you'll want to listen to!
