Burning Up For God

Texas friends Dusty, Zach, and Tristan go by the name Climbing Blind, inspired by the story of Zacchaeus. As a band, they've been ministering together strongly for almost two years and say they have no plans of slowing down. With one of their most important goals being to invest into the spiritual wellbeing of those they interact with, the group takes great strides to make music that glorifies their Creator. With their second EP, Burn, they do just that.
Opening the set of songs with good energy, the title track, "Burn," acts as an declaration of their faith. Just as the name suggests, the song talks about being on fire for God and not being able to keep it to themselves. Slowing down a bit, "Help Is On The Way" is a song of redemption and faith in God's power to rescue: "when it all seems lost / call on the power of Jesus' name / it's over now / help is on the way."
"You Alone" is another anthem of sorts. The lyrics declare God's safety for us and touch on His being our Hope, our Strength, and our Refuge. Taking the energy level back down to close out the EP, "Grace" is a song of reverence for the amazing grace we're offered : "my only hope is found in holding You."
Closing Thoughts:
For a band who's been doing this for only a short two years, this EP was surprisingly solid. The vocals came through as strong and seasoned with sung well-written lyrics. A mature release, Burn proves to be a good start for the guys of Climbing Blind.
