Passion Worship Band [Let The Future Begin]

Passion: Let The Future Begin was recorded live at the annual Passion Conference in Atlanta. I eagerly wait for each new Passion worship collection. From the beginning 268Generation has been rooted in the confession of Isaiah 26:8: “Yes Lord, walking in the way of Your truth we wait eagerly for You, for Your name and renown are the desire of our souls.” As a result, Passion seeks to gather college and university students across the nation and around the world to seek the face of God, asking Him to ignite in our souls a passionate pursuit of Jesus Christ and a desire to spread His fame to everyone on earth. I’ve been collecting every Passion worship collection since the inception in 1998. The conferences have developed and introduced the worship leaders David Crowder, Chris Tomlin, Christy Nockels, Charlie Hall, and Kristian Stanfill. This collection features the return of all of those names, and the introduction to Brett Younker.

My favorite Chris Tomlin led songs have generally been the new live recordings found on the Passion worship collections, going back to “We Fall Down,” “Enough,” “How Great Is Our God,” “God Of This City,” “Our God” and “White Flag.” This collection begins with the great new “dance” worship anthem “God’s Great Dance Floor,” and unlike previous Tomlin led songs, you probably won’t be adding that song to your church services. Don’t fret, however as you’ll certainly be singing the other new Chris Tomlin led songs “Whom Shall I Fear (God Of Angel Armies),” “Once And For All,” "We Glorify Your Name” and “Shout,” featuring Matt Redman. “God’s Great Dance Floor” was written by Martin Smith from Delirious and is an unashamed declaration of faith to God wrapped around a new contemporary electronic musical style. I love the truth of the song: “You’ll never stop loving us, no matter how far we run, You’ll never give up on us, all of Heaven will shout, let the future begin. I come alive, I feel alive / I am alive on God’s Great Dance Floor.”  The song is hooked-filled, fun and you’ll belt it out once you learn the chorus which features the album title. I love the crowd energy which opens this collection. There are 10 brand new songs on this 14 song regular edition collection. The other new songs, “Jesus, Only Jesus” by Matt Redman, “The Lord Our God,” “Children of Light” and “Come To The Water” by Kristian Stanfill, “Here’s My Heart” by David Crowder, and “My Delight Is In You” by Christy Nockels are all upbeat, catchy and worshipful. I especially like the musical arrangement on “Burning In My Soul” by new worship leader Brett Younker.

The other highlight for me is the new Christy Nockels song “My Delight Is In You” which gives me chills. I’m consistently mesmerized by the power and beauty of the lyrics and Christy's incredible vocals. The collection also includes great live performances of the modern anthems for the Church, Jennie Lee Riddle’s “Revelation Song” performed by Kari Jobe and modern hymn “In Christ Alone” performed by Kristian Stanfill. The Church can hear this collection and worship "Our God" with their whole hearts, minds and souls. “Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies) is chock full of the Truth that as Christians, we need to have full reliance on God to deal with the struggles of life.  The song perfectly expresses that dependence: “I’m holding on to Your promises, You are faithful…I know Who goes before me, I know Who stands behind, The God of Angel armies, is always on my side, The One Who reigns forever, He is a friend of mine.” Remember that if God is for us, who can be against us? We raise our hands to celebrate and in surrender. We can lift up our hands in confidence to God and know that His mercy is unfailing. His love is never-ending. He is our refuge and our strength. God's ultimate will is not to bring affliction upon people, but to restore us so that we may experience His unfailing love.  I love singing these songs back to Jesus and telling Him plainly that I need no other than Him.

What’s most impressive is how these catchy songs will have you singing along at the top of your lungs after just a couple of listens. After an amazing run of new worship albums to start off the year with Chris Tomlin, Meredith Andrews, Rend Collective Experiment, Daniel Bashta and Hillsong UNITED, along comes some of the best new original worship songs I've heard in the past few years. If you want to experience a spine tingling worship experience then you can't go wrong with the biggest names in the business. Tomlin, Stanfill, Crowder, Nockels, Hall, Redman, and new worship leader Brett Younker are all in top form on this excellent Passion: Let The Future Begin album, another solid entry in this great series. There are several instantly sing-able and worshipful arrangements that you'll want to add to your Sunday morning set-list. The themes of this album are Trusting God, loving Him and loving others as He loved us. All of the songs are catchy, exciting and worshipful. After listening to the album, I am stirred with compassion to love people as Jesus loves us. That's the heart behind this album, and thank you Passion for blessing us with your music and for singing the Truth of the Gospel for the Kingdom of God.
