Great new look at worship music

By dcarock,
First off, I'm not sure if it is valid that I leave this review. I am associated with the Weekend Warrior Worship project in a sense that I have created some of the videos and graphics used for the project. I have, in no way contributed to the production of the music though.
With that said, when I was first approached with the idea of this new ministry I was very intrigued. The thought of "lay ministry" folks attempting to break into the field of mainstream Christian music, without any official affiliation to a major record label, or publishing company is one that is unheard of mostly. Because without these "insider" connections, it is almost impossible to get your music heard. But, once I listened the music, and heard the message it conveyed, I was driven to give my support and all out dedication to the project. Because as a musician, and artist, I know just how hard it is... even when you have excellent work, to get "mainstream" anything to notice.
The 5 songs on this EP are all different in their approach to worship when it comes to the styles used on each song. But each song is representative of what is needed more and more today. Reverence, and praise to the one true God, and the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
It has been mentioned that these songs can not appeal to every generation. Well, I have to disagree with that statement. The very first day that I was exposed to these songs I approached a singer at my church (age 28), the music pastor at my church (age 50+), my mother in law (age 60+), my wife (age 40+), and most importantly several teenagers, and my son (age 11). Every single one of them had then same thing to say. That these songs touch the heart of worship. The songs have catchy choruses that are easy to sing along with. (My son wanders around the house singing and humming several every day). And that they could be easlily picked up and used by large orchestras, live worship bands, even used at bible studies to introduce specific passages from the Bible. The videos can also be used during worship services, as a tool to bring more direct worship to those services.
I do not have time to go into every song on the EP, because I could go on forever. My advice is to listen to each song... hear the message in each song... let the words touch your heart, as they have touched every heart that I have introduced them to... let them reinvigorate your joy in praising the Lord. And finally, let them continue playing in your head throughout the day. Reminding you of the sacrifice, grace, and love that can only be found through believing in Jesus Christ as our saviour and redeemer.
God bless.
