Throughout its storied 19-year career, Skillet has taken a number of risks and has reinvented itself multiple times. Starting as an all-male grunge rock band that turned into a mixed industrial synth group that turned back into a rock group before turning into a goth hard rock group, these changes have punctuated the constant evolution of this band. 

As their stint on Winter Jam ended last month, Skillet got back in the studio, and some videos recently released from recording sessions indicate more changes are on the way--and no, they aren't the "rap album" the band joked about on social media today.

The studio videos, which have since been removed, showed frontman/bassist John Cooper playing a black, fiberglass upright bass, while Korey Cooper brandished a rhinestone-embellished accordion in front of Seth Morrison, who wielded a six-string banjo (also known as a banjitar or a ganjo). 

Though the studio videos were removed--a tweet from the band said "sorry, you ain't ready for this yet"--early song titles leaked by the band via social media hint that Skillet is taking a completely new direction for their 10th studio album. 

Those titles include, "Hound Dawg Stomp", "The Wagon to Take You Home", "Thunder Alley, Wyoming" and "Barrel Dream." 
 
"We can't wait to show you what we've been working on," Cooper posted on Snapchat, with a picture of some fire-decorated black cowboy boots. "If you liked the direction we took with the song 'My Religion,' you'll see that we drove 3,000 miles past there. You'll get what we mean. Rock on, y'all."

In related news, drummer Jen Ledger recently posted a video of her drumming on an actual cast iron skillet. The band is gearing up for a late Spring tour with Nickelback.
