K-Love probably didn't plan on this.

The EMF Broadcasting family is making major waves on social media for the second time this year after coming under heavy fire from listeners for switching formats of its popular Air1 stations in January. 

Now, K-LOVE, the largest Christian music network in the country operating 564 stations nationwide, is receiving major heat for making the decision to not promote the upcoming pro-life, faith-based movie, Unplanned. The movie tells the story of Abby Johnson who became the youngest clinic director in the history of Planned Parenthood, then a life-changing experience turned her into an anti-abortion activist.

The movie received an R rating, which totally surprised the filmmakers. According to a recent article from Fox News, "It seems pretty odd that a movie with no foul language, no gratuitous sex, no violence, no naked bodies, no wild shootings or car chases racking up dead bodies and mangled vehicles would get a rating equal to movies like Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction and Die Hard."

Indeed, the R rating, which limits access to the film for anyone under 17, seems more politically motivated than necessary and it sounds like K-LOVE, a faith-based organization that is listener supported and stands on Biblical principles, wanted nothing to do with the controversy.

After the real-life Abby Johnson outed the network for their lack of support, the station's social media channels have been flooded with listeners demanding support for the film. The station attempted to explain their decision, which didn't sit well. 



Earlier today, Abby posted an update announcing the decision was reversed. "Wonderful update! After meeting again today with one of the movie producers, K-LOVE has decided to promote Unplanned! We are thrilled! Thank you to everyone who sent emails encouraging them to promote the film. We are strong together & I’m honored to have K-LOVE on the team!"

At the time of this article posting, the station has been silent on their reversal, instead encouraging their 2.5 million followers on Facebook to post pictures of puppies, an ironic twist that got lost on very few as you read the growing list of comments.

Abortion is an incredibly important topic and we believe at NewReleaseToday that all life is precious. Anyone who stands for that should be applauded and promoted and we're happy to hear that so many others agree and held K-LOVE accountable to this important topic and perspective. It's time we stop turning the other way and change the narrative on this horrific discussion.
