After much speculation about where we would land, R&B vocalist Christon Gray has signed with Kirk Franklin’s Fo Yo Soul Recordings--Franklin’s label.
There were plenty of rumors swirling around that Gray would be making an announcement on Saturday about his new label home, and a recent visit to Atlanta convinced some industry watchers that the School of Roses singer was headed to Lecrae’s Reach Records.
But on Friday, Gray's management refuted that claim. In a social media post to fans, Gray said, “You’ve heard enough from me the last couple of days. I’ll let the boss tell it,” followed by a link to a video of Franklin making the announcement.
“I have some exciting news to tell you as Christon Gray is about to jump on stage,” Franklin said, addressing the Alive Fest crowd in Ohio. “Yesterday he just signed to my label! My new artist, y’all! Show some love!”
Gray joins Franklin, The Walls Group and Tasha Page-Lockhart on Fo You Soul Recordings. No word yet as to when new music from Gray is coming.
"Finally! It's an honor to be signed with one my musical heroes," Gray told NRT after the announcement. "I'm excited and ready to get to work!"
