What do you do when you’re a rock star and you’ve closed a major chapter in your career?
You go on The Price is Right, of course!
That was the case for former Anberlin frontman (and one-half of Anchor & Braille) Stephen Christian, who appeared on a recent episode of the popular Drew Carey-hosted game show. The first contestant called down to Contestant’s Row, Christian—referred to by his birth name, Stephen Arnold—made a winning wager to play one of the pricing games, called Pick A Number.
When Carey asked what he did for a living, Christian answered, “I’m a songwriter.”
“A songwriter from Nashville!” Carey joked, “How unusual!"
At stake was “a brand new car!”—specifically a Ford Fiesta sedan. He merely had to pick a number to decide if the car was worth $14,795, $16,795 or $17,795. He had to pick the second number in the price, and Christian picked the 6. Sadly, he should’ve picked the 4.
Getting off Contestant’s Row, though, earned him a trip to the big wheel, where Christian landed on 45 cents. Trying to get closer to the one dollar target, he spun again, landing on 80 cents.
He went home empty handed, but was more than excited to have participated. Check out some video from his appearance here:
