The Kendrick Brothers return to where it all began with Flywheel: Ignition of the Soul, the long-awaited sequel to their 2003 debut film Flywheel, continuing the story that launched their filmmaking journey. Known for high-grossing Christian films such as War Room (2015), Courageous (2011), and Fireproof (2008), the brothers now revisit the message and legacy that first put them on the map.
Alex Kendrick, who founded Kendrick Brothers Productions with his brother Stephen in 2013, wrote on the Flywheel Facebook page that Flywheel was the story that “launched the Kendrick Brothers’ global film ministry” and that the new version reimagines and remakes the original movie. “We’ve waited a long time for this,” Kendrick wrote.
Flywheel: Ignition of the Soul is expected to be exclusively released in movie theaters on October 16, 2026.
The original Flywheel, starring Alex Kendrick, Lisa Arnold, and Tracy Goode, is about a dishonest car salesman, Jay Austin, who is convicted after watching a pastor preach on television. He has an about-face and decides to run his business honestly. Austin struggles to run his business honestly as he pays restitution to customers he previously cheated.
The Christian Index reports that the movie had a $20,000 budget and used church members from Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, New York, Kendrick’s home church, as cast and crew. The film was more successful than originally expected and sold more than 1 million DVDs worldwide in numerous languages.
According to The Christian Post, Flywheel: Ignition of the Soul is about another unethical used-car salesman, Noah Silva, who seeks to rebuild his integrity and restore his relationships with his wife and son.
The film stars Mario Bregieira, Perola Faria, Gui Tavares, Felipe Folgosi, Adriano Caninde, Elizeu Rodrigues, and Alex Kendrick.
The Portuguese-language film will be dubbed and subtitled in English for North American audiences. It is scheduled to debut in Brazil and across Latin America in September 2026.
